  However,Lawrence D'Souza said that his first choices where Salman Khan, Aamir Khan and Madhuri Dixit.Sanjay Dutt was not first choice for the role.Interestingly Lawrence D's Souza had earlier approached Aamir Khan for the role.Infact Aamir Khan shooted for some days for the Saajan but later he opted out of the film as he feels his character was no heroic compared to Salman (Aakash) and Salman Khan's character was having more screen-time and songs compared to his role.  Dutt wasn’t hesitant to accept the film despite his character being lame and not heroic. “At that time, he had 2-3 hit action films. So, he was ready to do an emotional role.” D’Souza considers Aamir’s refusal a blessing in disguise. “The character perfectly suited him. I personally feel Aamir wouldn’t have fitted this much.   "Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam" completes silver jubilee    1999 Dec 7   India daily Salman Khan-Aishwarya Rai starrer block buster "Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam" has still been going great guns and the movie has entered the silver jubilee week at theatres all over India. The movie, which has established Aishwarya Rai among the top actresses in Bollywood is produced and directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali who has already started working on his new project Devdas for which he has signed Aishwarya Rai and newly married Madhuri Dixit (Nene).The music of "Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam" is another factor, which has made this movie such a big hit.   BORDER  It is only right that in the golden jubilee of India’s independence the top grosser of the year is a film which resulted in a wave of patriotic fervour across the country. JP Dutta’s Border was, in the director’s own words, “a foray into history” inspired by the heart-rending, eye-witness account of his brother who had been an air-force pilot in the 1971 Indo-Pak war. It was an extravagant gamble for a first time producer because war movies in our country are rare. But, always stubborn and uncompromising when it came to box-office dos and don’t, JP went ahead and even paid to see his dream on screen. Real locations were visited, real tanks bursted and real forces deployed to recreate history. There were the inevitable skirmishes with the censors and a delay of 2-3 weeks.
